For bird nerds, reopening in April 2024

For bird watchers and budding ornithologists, this is a great museum to learn about not only the local bird life of Teganuma, the vast marsh in northern Chiba Prefecture, but also about birds around the world. The museum's permanent exhibits explore the evolution of birds and the coexistence between people and bird life. You'll also get a good understanding of the bird life endemic to the region around Abiko City. Now, I'll warn you - there is a lot of taxidermy going on here. The specimens are invaluable but sometimes sad to look at. Perhaps the last of their kind. And the descriptions are in Japanese and Latin, so get your translation app ready. Go outside and you'll see an amazing variety of living birds at the marsh.
