Needed to replace an old umbrella wrecked by the rain and wind in Niigata, and rather than buy a ¥100 replacement, I decided to find a specialty store and purchase a sturdier replacement. The umbrella store had a wide selection to choose from at several different price points, some no nonsense affordable offerings and others reflecting more contemporary styles and built to withstand Niigata weather, which carry a cost to match. The clerk/owner was kind and helpful, sharing his expertise and balanced my requests for cost and durability as part of his recommendations. His honesty and openness were a refreshing part of the consumer experience. It's also clear that he does repairs at the shop, and I'm sure any umbrella purchased here would be in good hands should service become necessary. If you're looking to do a little better than convenience store umbrellas with a splash of style, I highly recommend stopping in and seeing what's on offer.
