Old school soba shop, delicious
There’s something about Hachijojima cooks that they imbue an old school sensibility in their food. They’re warm hearted and generous with portions too. Senryo is one of these places. I had kitsune soba, usually the prosaic combination of tsuyu broth, mass produced noodles, some assorted greens, and a flaccid piece of fried tofu. But this dish was old school - fresh and locally made noodles, in house tsuyu broth, real fried udon, and a side of ashitaba tempura. All other kitsune soba pales in comparison.
