Chiba's first michi no eki is one of the best

Japan's michi no eki, road stations, are intended to provide travelers with relaxation, information, and connection to local culture. Biwa Club in Minamiboso City fulfills that. It won an award in 2000 as one of the best michi no eki destinations in Japan. At the entrance is an information counter where you can get insight into local places of interest, events, and workshops. There's a spacious lounge where you can stretch your legs. The two cafes, one a coffee counter and the other a full-service restaurant, serve all kinds of specialty sweets and dishes that incorporate the locally grown biwa, or loquat, fruit that's grown in the orchards in the area. A signature dish is the curry rice made with biwa puree. The garden facing the river has flowers in every season, and welcomes dogs and kids. Inside the atrium there are stairs, but the terrace appears to be accessible with slopes and no steps.
