A shopping mall that has it all
I love shopping malls, and the Aeon Mall in Showa is probably one of my favorite shopping malls in Japan! It really does have it all: from shopping to dining to entertainment, you're never at a loss for what to do there. It's easily accessible by public transportation as well as driving. There are buses that run from the capital Kofu, right outside of the main station, but if you want to drive there's ample parking too. However, during the busy season, the six or so lots can fill up fast. The mall is very modern and large. I heard that they expanded to add an entire second wing to expand the shopping and dining options recently. You can find a wide variety of stores, from the mall-staples like Kaldi and Village Vanguard, to unique shops you can only find there. If you don't want to shop, there's a huge food court too. There are classics like Baskin-Robins, Hanamaru, and Pepper Lunch, as well as smaller chains. I could see how some people spend every weekend here because a few hours just isn't enough! There are hundreds of shops and restaurants, as well as a movie theater if you want to catch a screening. I highly recommend Aeon Mall as a nice way to spend a day, or to find something that you're really looking for.
