Lake Onuma

Beautiful lake located in large park

Lake Onuma is located within the Akagi Prefectural park. Rather than a leisure park, it is a vast area of nature at the base of Mt Akagi, one of Gunma's better known mountains. There are various points of interest around the lake. Including the Akagi Jinja, with a beautiful red bridge over the water nearby. You can hire swan boats and row boats to take out on the lake. We went in winter, before the snow came, so the scenery was a bit stark. But from photos, it looks gorgeous in the snow. I imagine during autumn leaves and summer 'new green' season it is more picturesque too.
