Suited to a casual, cheap and quick meal with friends

Kyubeiya is a udon restaurant chain with branches all over Japan. The food isn't great and their information online doesn't match in store, but they are my only real complaints about the place. In terms of services, they cater to most needs. The place is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and efficient. The lunch time menu is quite small. There are only a few mains, each served with udon, soup and a few pickles. I am not a connoisseur of noodles, but I doubt these udon noodles rate particularly high in the grand scheme of things. I got a lunch set with vegetable tempura. The tempura was fairly decent and the rice it was served on was quite nice. The soup wasn't great. The pickles were standard. With a Mama and Papas card for Saitama you can get a free drink bar. The drink bar has a selection of soft and fizzy drinks, and hot beverages, mainly tea and coffee. They have children's cups as well as children's utensils and crockery. We sat in the tatami mat area which is particularly child friendly. They have children's chairs too. There is a smoking section that isn't sectioned off, but I didn't notice a smell. Only that I saw the sign I wouldn't have known it was there. The area is only smoking from 11 am to 2 pm. The place got really busy shortly after we arrived, but we weren't rushed to finish our meal. Lunch sets cost from 500 yen, but the average is 740 yen. It opens from 11 am to 11 pm. It is located on route 6 close to principal route 254. There is free parking for about 25 cars. They have parking for wheelchair users and there is a wheelchair accessible toilet. There is a changing mat in the women's toilet.
