Cool spot for both art + architecture fans

The Sumida Hokusai Museum has appeal for both art and architecture fans, with the actual premises itself being unique and eye-catching. It's the work of Sejima Kazuyo, who also is the person behind the Dior building in Tokyo and a bunch of other well-known buildings. Inside there are both temporary and permanent displays related to Hokusai.

    Accessible displays of Hokusai's art

This museum isn't very big, but it has two remarkable things going for it - the structure itself designed by architect Sejima Kazuyo and the digital displays. The building's surface reflects the surroundings and is photogenic while the slits in the building's perimeter provide interesting frames for views of the surroundings. Note that the permanent exhibition is a digital one, but that shouldn't turn you off, as it's informative in English and Japanese. But I do recommend checking the special exhibitions and confirming before you go whether the museum is preparing or not.
