Spring-fed river, rated as one of Japan's cleanest
A surprisingly accessible spot for clean, clear spring water, this park is only a 25-minute bus ride from Mishima Station on the Tokaido line. The Kakita River is a short watercourse in a shady valley with boardwalks, streams you can wade in, and a startling "blue hole" from which the spring water emerges. The park's website says a stunning 1.2 million tons of water originating from Mount Fuji gushes from the source each day. The park is small and you can stroll through it in about 30 minutes. Adjacent to the park is a collection of heritage buildings, restaurants, and concessions, and a parking lot for 50 vehicles.
