Come for the Scenery
Niji no Sato is a theme park in Shuzenji that has opened my eyes to what it feels like for a Japanese person when a Westerner decides Japan is the best country on earth. This theme park has three major areas: English village, Canadian village, and Takumi village. When you first step in, you’ll enter the English village and see the small assortment of buildings here. From here, you can take the (slowest ever) train to the Canadian village and see some totem poles and buildings fashioned in the settlement era of Canada. Bafflingly, there is also a kaleidoscope museum here, which is markedly a Scottish invention (and was improved to what it is now in the US.) The nicest draw is the giant slide, which even adults can enjoy. Souvenir shops are in all villages as well. There are plenty of gardens and restaurants throughout the park, so there is a lot here for people who like to walk. There is also a pond here where you can buy fish food from a vending machine to feed the fleet of Koi fish here as well. I have heard that this pond was made famous by a YouTuber at one point, so I tried to feed the fish. It’s an interesting sight, but not for the squeamish.
