    German Style Cake Shop

Platzl has both wrapped cookies and treats as well as cakes available whole or by the slice. On a quest to visit most of our local cake shops, this was on the list. A sort of gift, not actually for White Day, but purchased on the same day, we got to taste two of the cakes that are popular there. One is 'Istanbul' - a kind of chocolate cake with white chocolate as the frosting and butter cream in between the diagonal layers. As a not-that-into-chocolate person, it was actually nicer than expected. The other was a 'Raspberry Chocolate' cake which we really liked. The glaze on top is so yummy and strongly flavored, while the other layers are a mouse, cake, and crispy bottom. It's a little pricey, but also unique in that the cakes are German style, rather than the popular French style cakes you can find all over Japan.
