Best Italian in town with to die for Tiramisu
Verdura is an extremely popular, always busy, Italian restaurant in rural Higashimatsuyama. Advance booking is strongly advised. It is a particularly good spot for ladies who lunch! The last time I was there (yesterday!) there was all but one man, the rest were women dining in groups or on their own. I was particularly impressed by 3 things - 1. The menu choice is vast. 2. Great value for money. 3. Truly delicious. There are different options for lunch. We had the "Verdura Lunch set" - a starter, main course, bread, dessert and drink for just 1650 yen. There are cheaper lunch sets too. For each set there are about 10 starters to choose from. For the mains you can choose pasta or pizza, there is a selection of about 20 for each. I had the eggplant lasagna and it was superb. For the dessert on this course you choose from the desserts of the day written on a chalk board. I had the tiramisu and I can honestly say its the best tiramisu I've had in Japan. No smoking in the restaurant. No English except for one quirky no smoking message. Parking for about 20 cars - car pool for groups best as car park fills up fast. High chairs available.
