Edo era atmosphere, 47 ronin spot
Sengakuji Temple in Minato Ward is the resting place of the 47 akoroshi, the group of ronin who avenged the killing of their lord. Kannonji in Taito Ward is where they planned the job. Kannon-ji temple, a Shingon sect temple founded in 1648, doesn't look spectacular, but it has features worth a look. On the right side of the temple is a monument to the 47 ronin. One of the temple's monks, brother to two of the ronin, hosted the meetings here. Go outside the temple gate to see the tsuji-bei walls dating from the Edo era. One of the rare survivors of the era, the wall is about 37 meters long.
