Kawasemigawara is a great spot for a barbecue in the summer. The flood plain is particularly wide and the river is deep in spots so its suitable for actual swimming and not just wading. There is only a 500 yen charge for parking, which is on par with other sites of this type. It works on the honesty system - pop the money in an envelope with your name and car reg written on it and send it down a money shoot at the gate. The place is really popular so first come, first served.
