Kiritanpo Chaya

Local specialty

Kiritanpo, pounded rice on a skewer, is a famous specialty of Akita prefecture. Kiritanpo Chaya is located on the Aomori side of Lake Towada, but it is right beside Akita. Apart from the Kiritanpo the shop also sells ice-cream, cooled cucumbers, latte drinks with frozen fruit and other snacks too. There is an indoor seating area, with a lake view, but it seems to be closed right now. You can sit on some stools made from wood along the boardwalk.
