I’ve had pretty great experiences with the hotels I’ve stayed at in Japan - even when they’ve been small they’ve always been very clean. Recently in Nagasaki though we had such a bad accommodation experience that we re-booked a different hotel in the middle of a typhoon (if that gives you any indication of how bad it was). The bathroom was full of mold and even mysterious hair in the tub that evidently wasn’t cleaned properly. When we told the staff we wanted to check out they didn’t even try to offer a new room - just an unenthusiastic sorry. If you stay in Nagasaki do not stay at this place, it'll ruin your impression of what is otherwise a really lovely city. Only good thing was the view. It's on the top of a hill so you do get some sweeping panoramas of the area. Doesn't make up for the eww-factor inside.
