Warm hospitality and slow island style
The dinner at Santa was the highlight of my trip to Zamami Island. When I settled at the bar counter in front of the master, he and his staff were welcoming and asked me about my trip and where I'd been. I felt like a regular right away. And this made me less shy about asking for local specialties and trusting in the master's recommendations. I had a great sampling of local cuisine including soki, rafute, and a tasting session of awamori, the local sake variety. The atmosphere is so welcoming and I got talking to other diners, trading tips on what to see and do in the islands. It was a local experience I won't forget.
