Hatakeyama Shigetada History Remains Park

Nothing more than a statue!

The word "park" is generous in describing this space in rural Fukaya. There is really only a small garden, a medium sized courtyard, a statue and a shrine. But the site is well known because the statue is of a very famous samurai warlord Hatakeyama Shigetada. Supposedly he was from Fukaya! He was a samurai warlord during the late Heian and early Kamakura period. He features on the NHK drama "The 13 Lords of the Shogun". The park does look picturesque in spring with the cherry blossoms in bloom.
