Maiko Ski Resort

Great resort with plenty of family-friendly amenities

If you're looking for a less-trafficked family-friendly ski resort, I highly recommend Maiko Ski Resort in Minamiuonuma. They have a ton of activities and amenities here geared towards kids, including banana boat rides, ski and snowboard lessons, sledding areas, and more. There's also an indoor play section for them if they start getting sick of being out in the cold -- it's a good option if you need to take a break for a while! It's not just kids who are catered to here, though. They have ski courses for beginners right through to advanced skiers, so you shouldn't be bored even if you are a bit of an expert. The views are stunning, too! Adult one-day passes are 5000 yen, which to me is a STEAL compared to what I'd pay in Australia at places like Mount Buller or Falls Creek.
