Museum dedicated to the philosopher DT Suzuki
I didn't know anything at all about DT Suzuki before visiting this museum, but it surprised me in that it focuses a lot on self-reflection rather than the man himself. Personally, I was drawn to the design of the museum - I love minimalistic places, so this spoke to me in that regard. Admission is a reasonable 310 yen, so if you've got time when you're in the area it's not a bad place to stop into. It's especially good if you just want a pleasant place to sit and ponder about life.

Go for the architecture, stay for the zen
Kanazawa City in Ishikawa is full of great museums, so it's often tough to decide which ones are the best to visit when time is limited. Honestly, I went to the DT Suzuki museum because I was trying to get out of the rain one day, but I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful architecture. It was modern and minimalist, but still had this blend with the surrounding nature that evoked a sense of traditional Japanese aesthetics. It was great. Since I was there, I checked out the story about the great zen philosopher, DT Suzuki (or Suzuki Daisetsu), and I was fascinated. I enjoyed his outlook on life, and I had some new things to think about when I departed the museum that day. It's not my favorite museum in Kanazawa, but it's in the top 5. The museum costs 300 yen for adults and is free for children under 18.
