    Nice park surrounding a lake

Senba Park is a pleasant park in Mito, and it's right next to the famous Kairakuen Garden. The park is built around a lake, and there's a path right around it making it a great spot for a stroll. Like a lot of lakes in Japan, they have the swan pedal boats available for rent if you want to get out on the water.

Highly rated park near central Mito

Senba Park gets rave reviews online, and with good reason. It is a beautiful, spacious park, centrally located within walking distance of Kairakuen Station. It is a manageable walk from Mito Station as well. The park is located on the flatlands below (beside) Kairakuen, one of the three great gardens of Japan. Kairakuen has a nominal fee to enter, but Senba Park is free. The park was designed around Senba Lake. There is a museum on the south east end of the park too.
