Fun for design fans
If you appreciate cool architecture and design, I think Art Tower Mito is definitely worth the visit if you're passing through or residing in this part of Ibaraki Prefecture. It stands out prominently on the skyline, and the multipurpose venue houses a concert hall, an art museum, and more. You can pay 200 yen to go up the tower, but I actually think it's just cool appreciating it from the outside.

Landmark tower
Art Tower Mito is one of the key attractions in Mito City and one of the symbols of the city. The tower is very picturesque from the outside, especially at night when they light it up. From the inside you can get a good view of Mito from the top. Its only 200 yen to go up the tower. The building is known as an art gallery, but there is actually a theater and concert hall too. You can take a tour that includes a glimpse of all the facilities and a cup of coffee too. In summer the pond in front of the tower can be used as a splash pad.
