Self catering option at excellent family resort

    Price: 7000 yen

I personally really like this little village of semi-detached accommodation in the Tokinosumika resort. The lodges are semi-self-catering; they have a workable kitchen AND they have a buffet hall you can use for breakfast. The buffet breakfast hall is a small walk away, but it is really nice with a good selection.

The lodges are quite big. They have a kitchen/dining area, a living room / bedroom in the form of a tatami room (futons are stored during the day and taken out at night), and a Western style bedroom with 2 semi-double beds. There is also a toilet, a bath/shower room and a vanity area with sink and storage. Each lodge has either a balcony or a patio. The kitchen area has a hob, a sink, a microwave, a kettle and a fridge. If you are planning to cook, YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS AND COOKING IMPLEMENTS. The down side of the accommodation is that as you are in a semi-detached, you can sometimes hear your neighbours. We've stayed there seven times and only twice was the level of noise worth complaining about. Both of those times it wasn't voices, but banging as if kids were jumping out of the wardrobes, which is highly likely even at 11 pm at night!  Like so many places in Japan, the Blueberry Lodges have something small, but special to offer. You can ask at reception to borrow life-size stuffed toys of the characters Bitzer and Shaun, from the British stop motion animation “Shaun the Sheep“.

There is a shuttle bus that goes to the Blueberry Lodges from the JR Gotemba Line Iwanami station, but you need to ask the reception about that on the phone before you come. The easiest way to get to these lodges and the Tokinosumika resort is from the Susuno exit of the Tomei Expressay.
