    Light and refreshing!

Jinnan Cafe Chiba, the Chiba version of the original Jinnan Cafe in Shibuya, is located on the fifth floor dining area of Perie Chiba, the large shopping mall above/next to JR Chiba station. Tucked into a corner, it offers bright, clear views of the patio outside, wooden furnishings and lots of greenery. The light, refreshing atmosphere matches the menu perfectly. While not vegetarian, vegetables are a major attraction here and they are as beautiful in appearance as they are delicious! I chose the recommended dish, the deli plate, and was served a gorgeous array of vegetable dishes and impeccable salad meats. It was perfect for a hot summer’s day, filling without being too heavy. Because I went at lunchtime, a drink only cost 250 yen (plus tax) extra. It all added up to nearly 2000 yen, a little more expensive than I would normally like for a lunch break but well worth it for an occasional treat. I can imagine Jinnan Cafe being popular all year round, but I especially recommend it during the summer. It’s not just the food but the whole cafe that will leave you feeling lighter and fresher. Tips: * I went on a Saturday at lunchtime, albeit somewhat early. I was able to get a seat easily, but I wouldn’t count on doing so during peak lunch hours. * Patrons here are able to choose whether they want clear water or herbal water to go with their food. The latter is both beautiful to behold and very popular, probably because it is delicious, ice cold and lightly infused with various herbs. Definitely give it a try if you can!
