Elegant presentation, delicious kaisendon

Just southwest of Samukawa Shrine is Sanshuden, the shrine's event hall that hosts weddings and other celebrations associated with the shrine. The hall has a small restaurant with a varied menu - Chinese, western, and washoku set menus for lunch and dinner. We opted for the Gentei Ryuzen set. It includes three kinds of sushi over rice, various sides, chawan mushi, and miso soup. The server brings the set on a tray and removes the basket lid to reveal the dishes. The sushi rice was perfectly prepared, the various sides have contrasting flavours and textures, and the ensemble is a treat to look at and eat. It's filling, too.
