Short hours, tasty food

Genyo is a ramen shop in Niigata's Higashi ward, and their signature dish is a shellfish chahshu ramen. If you like seafood-flavored broths I would recommend this place to you. Ordering is done via a vending machine system, so you do need to know Japanese or have a friend (or Google Translate!) help you out. One downside here is that they have fairly limited operating hours -- 10.30am until 3pm daily, but closed every Monday. That means if you're looking to visit them at dinnertime you're out of luck. Also, keep in mind that they only accept cash to avoid being caught short.
