Worth the visit
It's been years since I've visited here (2013 or 2014!) but I still remember it being one of my most memorable experiences in Japan. The area is beautiful, but as ReishiiTravels mentioned, the torii is having work done on it and is currently under scaffolding. If that's a prime motivator in your visit, hold off. When we visited, we stayed for basically the whole day and saw both high and low tide. A cool experience and definitely enough to do around the island to make an entire day from a trip.

Beautiful Shrine Under Construction
I have really been wanted to go to this shrine for a long time! I always see beautiful pictures of the large shrine gate in the water. However, when I went, the large shrine gate was under construction. I was a little bit disappointed. I believe it is going to be under construction for about another year, so I recommend waiting a year to see this shrine. Also, make sure you go during high tide! It is not quite as beautiful during low tide!
