Chinese bubble tea in Yokohama
Seeing a bunch of young people walking around with bubble tea recently, I was curious. I wandered around and came across MoMo Tea. I had passed by the shop before (and it wasn't a bubble tea place) so it was relatively new. The interior is an amalgamation of a Google search of "Tumblr hipster." Seriously, there are watercolor walls, wings, and various wall stickers. There's even a dabbing panda on the bathroom door. I'm not making this up. It's a bit too try-hard but there's plenty of seating which is always a plus. I'm not sure when they close, but I went in at about 7:30 PM and there were about three other groups waiting for their drinks. I wanted bubble tea, but when I ordered they said that they had already ran out and stopped selling the tapioca balls for the day. That was the whole reason I wanted to go, but I ordered anyway, opting for the pudding instead with the cake milk tea. The store was clean and well managed, but behind the register was a totally different story. There were piles of garbage bags stacked around the prep counters and by the food. It was a little gross. Plus, though it looks cute, they use a lot of plastic packaging which was a bummer.
