Gone, new residential and commercial buildings take over
The streetscape at Kashiwa Station's south exit has undergone a dramatic change in the last few years. Kashiwa Daiichi Hotel, home of Sushiyoshi, is no more. The block is now occupied by a mixed residential and commercial space. Across the street is a new Toyoko Inn, a chain hotel. We'll miss Sushiyoshi with its family hospitality. Have a look around the neighbourhood for the other indepentent Kashiwa City restaurants.

A classic sushi restaurant in a local hotel
Sushiyoshi is a classic sushi restaurant localed in the Kashiwa Daiichi Hotel. The family that runs the restaurant are lovely people who provide great hospitality. When I visited for a Sunday lunch, I was served a great spread of pickles, light soup and chirashi sushi. Sushiyoshi also does takeout! It's a very relaxed place to have a leisurely lunch. The space has zashiki and table seating, so it's pleasant for families, too.
