A Slice of Niigata Life and Culture

Amazing display of Niigata's history and what has historically contributed to its contemporary character. The museum is separated into five different sections: Living with Snow, Niigata's history, Rice Culture, and the Jomon Period life, and Jomon Period artifacts/culture. The entirety of the museum displays are in Japanese only, but there is a listening device that carries English, so all you have to do is input the number of the display, and you can hear brief explanations for most of the artifacts and scenes on display. Each section shares a little bit of Niigata's history and backgrounds while also supplying a glimpse of what contributed to what Niigata is today. I'd recommend the museum for anyone looking to take a crash course in what it means to be a Niigata resident.
