Books, CDs, DVDs, play area and coffee
Price: 800 yen
Located beside Peony Walk mall in rural Higashimatsuyama, this large branch of Tsutaya offers more than just books. It is a particularly large branch of the popular book, CD and DVD chain store. They have a great selection of magazines and books for all genres. There is a Tully's coffee on site where you can buy coffee and drink in the coffee shop or bring to dedicated areas within the book store to relax over a book or magazine.
One of the coffee seating areas is in the children's book area which has a small play area with wooden toys and a flat screen TV showing Anpanman cartoons without intervals. The children's section is also larger than any other I've ever seen. They have a decent collection of English books for children too. They give free colouring pages for kids when you purchase something with kids in tow. On occasion, they have special events for kids.
Like all branches of Tsutaya, they offer T points on purchases. If you download the Tsutaya app, you can get information about special offers and bonus points days. The app and all the information in store is in Japanese only.
This branch is open from 9 am to 11 pm. They have free wifi. Parking is free and plentiful and shared with a few other stores including a supermarket, a decent sized GU and Seria 100 yen shop.
