Gorgeous views
If you're visiting Miyajima, I think heading up Mt. Misen is a must. The views are just incredible - you can see right out over the Seto Inland Sea, and all the pretty island dotting the water were stunning. You can also head up via the Miyajima Ropeway which is a bit easier if you're traveling with little ones, for instance.

Short, but Tough Hike
I recently trekked up Mt. Misen during my trip to Hiroshima! I was unsure of how rough the hike would be. The path I took was only about 2.5 km, but it was quite steep. I would not necessarily recommend it for beginners, but you don't have to be advanced. It took me about one hour, but I was going at a pretty fast pace. It did wear me out at the end! I highly recommend packing some momiji manju to eat at the top. The view is amazing!
