Shrine famous for its kagura
Tamashiki Shrine is famous for its kagura performances. But at this time of the year it attracts thousands of visitors for its wisteria. Before the pandemic the shrine hosted a popular spring festival during Golden Week, known to be particularly child friendly. During the festival one of the rites involves children climbing under a horse statue as a ritual to bring good luck and health. Tamashiki is a good shrine for a bit more insight into Japan's shinto culture.
