Hiyoshi Shrine

Shrine enclosed by camphor trees

Hiyoshi Shrine is an unassuming and unmanned shrine in the foothills leading to Unazuki Onsen Village. It is just a small neighborhood shrine, but we were drawn to it by its Totoro-esque appearance with those beautiful camphor trees surrounding it. Despite being right by the highway and the bullet train tracks, it was really tranquil and felt spiritual.
