Former mikoshi shop, museum with informative guides

The Myoden area of Ichikawa City is named for its association with Buddhism. It's also a centre for mikoshi, portable shrines. The former Asako Mikoshi Workshop is a small museum crammed with the works of the Asako craftspeople and displays of the elements of the mikoshi. The guides, two friendly elders on the day I visited, were happy to share the history of the Asako workshop, providing a timeline of the business and details about the mikoshi designs. The building is free to enter.
