Matsue really impressed me with the range of cute coffee shops they had. A back street find for me was the Tonomachi Coffee Stand. They were hard to miss from their bright blue exterior, and I'm glad I popped in. The coffee menu is pretty simple - drip coffee, Cafe Au Lait, hot chocolate - but the baked goods here taste deliciously homemade. Not sure if that was the case or not, but I was impressed. Banana bread, muffins, scones and a variety of cookies are all on the menu here, as well as meal sets with pancakes, bagels or quiches with your choice of drink. Set meal prices were pretty reasonable, at around 600-800 yen depending on what you choose. I really liked the decor of the store too, the white walls, subway tiles and plenty of natural light made it feel open and bright. Service was fast and friendly.
