Former Takeishi Family Residence

Interesting historical spot

If you're in the Yahiko area, perhaps visiting Yahiko Shrine or Yahiko Park, the Former Takeishi Family Residence is an interesting historical destination to add to your itinerary. The thatched roof structure was a former farmhouse and it dates back to the Edo period. I don't know that I would say to go out of your way for this one specific spot, but it's cool to see if you're in the area. One important point to note, though: it's only open on weekends, not weekdays. Keep that in mind if you intend to stop by.
