Beating the heat on a seaside trip

On a recent coastal trip in Kashima, we needed to escape the afternoon heat as it was 36 degrees - in the middle of September! Cheerio Shopping Center was ideal. Its not a particularly large mall; it maybe why they call it a shopping center instead of a mall. But it had exactly what we needed - somewhere to eat, somewhere to play, facilities... and air conditioning! There is also an Aeon Supermarket to pick up any essentials. Currently, in September 2023, they have Halloween decorations and photo spots around the center. The parking lot is large and there is no charge for parking.
