    Filling Vietnamese lunch in Nihombashi

There are a number of pint-sized eateries and cafes tucked away in the backstreets around Nihombashi's Coredo Muromachi shopping / entertainment complex. One that stands out, mostly for its striking signage, is a branch of Vietnamese restaurant chain Dedesuke Saigon Kitchen (でですけ サイゴンキッチン). The restaurant is a small operation covering two cozy floors. The street-level floor is has lots of glass-panel doors so it's easy enough to assess the situation within from outside, without having to commit. There's not much in the way of windows on the second floor, bit the interior is bright and quite funky with some booth seating and table / stools. We were looking for some lunch and Dedesuke Saigon Kitchen does an interesting deal in which diners can combine two main dishes and then help themselves to a salad and drink bar (which also has a bit of token dessert). Lunch menu mains cover the likes of green / yellow curry, fried rice, and beef / tomyam pho. The menu lists recommended pairings if you're not sure what the best combination might be. Being a bit weak when it comes to handling spicy foods, I went with the yellow curry / beef pho combo. Honestly, I don't know a great deal about Vietnamese food, but I do know that this was a filling set. And it tasted pretty good, to me! The salad bar at Dedesuke Saigon Kitchen, while far from spectacular, was decent enough, with with the usual greens, potato salad, corn, and plenty of coriander (of which I'm quite the fan). A couple of juices, tea and coffee make up the drink bar. At 1,500 yen this isn't the cheapest lunch deal around but the setting is nice, the staff here very friendly, the service quick, and just plenty of good vibes all-round. I'd recommend it as a nice way to get some lunch of a weekend in Nihombashi.
