Make Your Own Okonomiyaki in Asakusa

I recently visited Sometaro Okonomiyaki in Asakusa. After walking through the old streets and seeing the beautiful temples, I was starving. And what better way to satisfy my appetite than with okonomiyaki! There was a bit of a wait when I arrived, so I recommend making a reservation if you can. If you can't, I would advise that you don't go when you're too hungry, as the delicious smells will make your stomach growl as you wait in line. There are premade combinations on the menu, or you can order your toppings ala carte if you're looking for a more unique okonomiyaki. I decided on the seafood. The fillings come in a bowl and that's it. You have to mix it yourself. It turns into a delicious batter that you pour onto the grill. It's up to you to decide when its ready to be flipped, and when it's ready to be eaten. If you do need help, though, the workers are very nice and helpful. Just flag one of them down and you'll be set. You can top the okonomiyaki as liberally as you like. I personally like a lot of sauce and a BUNCH of bonito flakes, so I went wild. There's also seaweed and mayonnaise to complete the okonomiyaki. The food was a bit pricey when I first looked at the menu (I mean, it's batter and some bits of meat and veggies!) but after I finished, I definitely thought it was worth it. The okonomiyaki was delicious, and I'm pretty sure I didn't even cook it that well! The quality of the ingredients made it worth the price. Well, that and the fact that it was an experience. I know some people would wonder why you would spend money on going out to eat just to have to cook everything yourself, but I enjoy it. (Plus, no clean up!) If you have anyone coming to visit Japan and would like to give them a good memory, you should definitely try this place!
