Tasty miso katsu and hamburger steak restaurant
The specialty at Crayon in Niigata's Minami ward is miso katsu, which is apparently a Nagoya specialty -- so it's nice to get to enjoy some regional cuisine without having to head hours away! The miso katsu set is 950 yen including tax, and it comes with a side salad (mainly shredded cabbage), rice, soup, and some pickled veg as well, so all in all I think it's a great deal. The hamburger steak here is also really good, and the set is also priced at 950 yen. It is a pretty family friendly spot, they do have kids cutlery and bowls but I didn't see any high chairs, so if you have really young ones you might want to keep that in mind.
