The Okozu Flood Control Channel in the Tsubame area of Niigata is a really great spot to get your fix of all things cherry blossoms at this time of year. There are somewhere around 1500 trees that are at their best from the early to mid-April timeframe, and if you can manage a weekday visit you'll be able to avoid most of the crowds. Very peaceful and scenic!
