Museums and archive library near Tokyo
Skip City in Kawaguchi City is a compound of educational facilities in the same area. There is a Science museum, a Life science experience hall, a convention hall, the NHK public archives and our personal favorite, a Visual museum. You can purchase a ticket that allows you enter all the facilities at a discounted price or you can pay to enter just one of the facilities. The NHK archive library is free to enter. The visual museum was the first of its kind. It has a number of different unique offerings. There is limited English available though so you would need a command of Japanese to participate in the film making services available. The science museum is small, but reasonably price and has some interesting displays. Each of the attractions hosts special events on occasion. There is a shop and a couple of restaurants. There is parking available, it costs 200 yen per hour.
