Hotel Futaba

A lovely ryokan - the food and the outdoor bath were the stars!

We stayed at Hotel Futaba recently while we were in the Yuzawa area of Niigata. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the Echigo Yuzawa train station, which makes it easy if you're getting there that way. If you're driving, there is parking on site. We opted to get a room with a private outdoor onsen and I would highly recommend this option if you are staying here. There are public onsen with great views too, but there is something to be said about being able to retire to your room and relax - and the balconies have mountain views too! I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the winter time. We also loved the kaiseki dinner they served - it was one of our favorite kaiseki meals we have had in our time in Japan. Everything was very tasty and obviously in true Japanese form the presentation couldn't be beaten.
