Asuwa Shrine

After dark sakura = a special experience

Fukui's Asuwa Shrine is known for its weeping cherry tree, which is impressively tall, wide, and old. During the blooming season, the shrine does an after-dark illumination event – and there are few things in life I would describe as a spiritual kind of experience, but this was one of them. Stunningly beautiful and just incredible to see a tree of that size and age.
