Sandaime Shimizu-ya Okara Donuts

So good they featured on TV!

In the Hiki District of Saitama Prefecture, Shimizu's donuts are pretty well known. The "Sandaime" in the shop's name means 'third generation', so the shop has been going a long time. But ever since they featured on the 'Good Morning' show they have enjoyed a wider acclaim. They are good, don't get me wrong, but my family and I prefer the Okara donuts in Kinchou in Kawagoe (you will also find a review for that shop on City-cost). However, I have only tried four flavors at Shimizu so far and they have a huge range (I think it said in the store, more than 100), so maybe my opinion will change if I try some other flavors! Meanwhile, Kinchou only has one choice - plain!
