Sainomori Iruma Park

Former American base

Sainomori Park, like Johnson Town and the Iruma Air Base beside it, was once part of the American military facility Johnson Base. After the land was returned to Japan from America, this part was eventually turned into a park. The park is neither the biggest nor the best in the area, but it is much loved by locals. In Autumn it is particularly picturesque when the mature trees in the park leaves change color. There are some water features in the park and a few resident turtles! There is also a rest area with a restaurant. Open seven days a week. Free parking. Within walking distance of Johnson Town.
