Good products, disappointing as an attraction
The Kato Dairy Farm has won awards for its cheese and other dairy products. Their ice-cream is really good. And their little restaurant always has at least a couple of customers. So for foodies, it is probably worth a visit. However, for my kids and I it was rather disappointing. As an attraction it falls short, particularly in comparison to other farms in Saitama such as Enomoto Farm and Chichibu Highland Ranch. Kato Dairy Farm has two miserly tire swings, a rope climb, about 3 little push along rides for children and a small teeny slide. That's it. You can pay to milk cows and make butter etc., but you can do that at the excellent Saitama children's zoo for free (milking) or a lot cheaper (butter making). If you are looking for a farm with play options, drive on by. If you are looking for good dairy products, definitely pull in. There's only room for about six cars in the parking lot, but I'd say that's rarely a problem.
