Oh, no! This cafe featuring Chiba Prefecture's produce in smoothies and treats was located inside the ticket gates of Chiba Station's Perie shopping complex. I won't delete this listing because of it's linguistic and agricultural significance. The word "unau" is a Chiba dialect word that refers to cultivating furrows in the farm fields. The cafe served komatsuna, a commonly-cultivated green vegetable, in smoothies. Want to try this? Funabashi City has a "Komatsunau", a food festival in May. Restaurants in the station front area serve dishes featuring the greens. Near Kashiwa Station in the DayOne building, try Daichi, a JA antenna shop, for veggie smoothies with komatsuna and other greens.

Chiba produce showcase cafe, delicious komatsuna smoothie
Are you a “locavore”? The locavore diet is all about eating food grown or produced in a local area. Besides health benefits, locavore eating means the food you eat has traveled a short distance from producers to plates, and it helps sustain local farms. Unau, a small cafe inside Chiba Station is a showcase for seasonal foods from around Chiba Prefecture. Chiba regions are known for production of peanuts, dairy products, eggs, and komatsuna greens. Some lunch plates include a komatsuna smoothie - delicious and refreshing, and mildly sweet. On any visit you can try peanut butter toast, sandwiches with ham or chicken, and rich yogurt.
