DIY Crab Dinner!

If you’ve never tried crab before, trying it out in Mombetsu is probably the place you should indulge - since it’s said to be the best in all of Japan. Mombetsu Ryoshi Shokudo offer up a very unique experience with their crab though - you get to do all the hard work yourself! At the restaurant here you get presented with a crab, a pair of plier-like implements, and a cloth - and then it’s time to get to work! The staff lend a hand and explain to you what you need to be doing (so don’t be too concerned if you’re a first timer like I was!) It makes for not only an impressive meal, but a really fun and interactive experience - it’s great if you enjoy hands-on activities when you visit a new spot. There’s other food options here too including seafood bowls topped with roe and fresher than fresh scallops.
